The terms of the Texas R.E.S.T. Member Alerts text message program and our automated dispatch calls, and the rules for using txrest.org and our member tools.
Texas R.E.S.T. Member Alerts is an internal program for our members. We do not text the public, and we do not add anyone to the program from a purchased or shared list. A member enrolls by signing in to the member portal at vol.txrest.org, adding a mobile number under “How to reach me,” and checking the box that says they agree to receive Texas R.E.S.T. Member Alerts at that number. The box is never checked in advance, and the number is not added without it. We keep a record of each agreement.
Messages begin with “TXREST” and may include incident type, address, staging and radio details, hazard notes, and a link to a map or to the member portal. They include:
We never send marketing or promotional messages through this program.
Message frequency varies with incident activity. Emergencies happen at any hour, so messages may arrive overnight, and one incident can produce several messages. You can set quiet hours in the portal to hold routine notices; dispatch pages are never held.
Texas R.E.S.T. does not charge for these messages. Message and data rates may apply, according to your mobile plan.
Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts from our number. You will get one final message confirming that you have opted out, and no further texts after it. To rejoin, reply START to (936) 236-7876.
Our response depends on reaching members within seconds, so being reachable by text is a requirement for active response membership. You may opt out at any time and we will honor it immediately. While you are opted out we cannot send you dispatch pages by text, and you may be placed on inactive status and unable to take part in responses until you opt back in or make other arrangements with your coordinator. Agreeing to these messages is never a condition of buying anything.
Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Text delivery is not guaranteed, which is why we ask members to register at least two ways to be reached. This program does not replace 911 or official public-safety dispatch.
You can remove a number in the member portal at any time. If you give up or change a mobile number, remove it from the portal so our messages do not reach its next owner.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle member information. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers, text message opt-in data, or consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
A member may also register a number for voice pages. We place automated calls to that number that read the dispatch aloud in a computer-generated voice or a recording, and may ask you to press a key to answer. The member agrees to these calls in the portal when adding the number. To stop them, remove the number in the portal or contact us.
We will post any change to these terms on this page and update the date at the top. If a change affects the Member Alerts program, we will tell members directly.
