How Texas R.E.S.T. collects, uses, and protects information from people who visit our website, request our support, apply to volunteer, or serve as members.
Texas Rehab & Emergency Support Team(“Texas R.E.S.T.,” “we,” “us”) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Texas, EIN 42-3104101. We provide rehabilitation, hydration, and rest for first responders at extended emergency incidents.
This policy covers our website at txrest.org, our member portal at vol.txrest.org, our internal administration tools, and the text messages and phone calls we send to our members.
Our public website does not use advertising or analytics trackers. Like any website, our servers and our network provider (Cloudflare) process technical details such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and block abuse. The coverage map on our About page loads map imagery from Mapbox, which receives your IP address when the map loads.
We collect what you enter in the form. For a volunteer application that is your name, phone number, email address, mailing address, county, work experience, certifications, preferred way to be contacted, an optional résumé, and your answer to why you want to volunteer. For a support request it is your contact details and the details of the event or incident. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not an automated program, is submitting the form.
We keep the information we need to deploy you safely and keep required records, including:
We do not use personal information for advertising, and we do not send marketing text messages.
Members receive automated text messages and phone calls through our member alert program, Texas R.E.S.T. Member Alerts. A member enrolls by adding a mobile number in the member portal and agreeing to the SMS Terms. We record when a member agrees and when a member opts out. We use the number only to send dispatch pages, incident updates, and team operational messages, and to process the replies members send back.
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers, text message opt-in data, or consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. The only outside party that handles a member’s number for texts and calls is our messaging provider, Twilio, which uses it solely to deliver our messages and calls.
Reply STOP to any message to stop texts, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
Access to member information is limited by role to the people who need it, and every account requires two-factor sign-in. Information travels over encrypted connections. We keep application and request information as long as needed to respond and for our records, and member records for the length of membership and afterward as needed for incident, training, and legal records.
Our website and services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use member information, we will tell members directly.
